Carol Govan's lecture at the Duxbury Art Complex

Member Carol Govan gave a lecture on the history of Botanical Art at the Duxbury Art Complex on August 1st. The museum staff told us how much the public loves the exhibit, and that they hold a weekly yoga class in the gallery before the museum opens. Each yogini chooses a painting to focus on during their tree pose.

They give out little botanical sheets and hand lenses to small visitors and challenge them to find different leaf shapes in the sculpture garden.

Visitors included a Stonehill College professor of art who plans to bring her illustration class over as soon as the semester opens (right before the exhibit closes).

Around 30 people attended the event. Great fun, and thanks to our ASBA grant plus marvelous Carol!
