Inspiration From the Fells: Rock Garden Plants

Call for Entries—A New England Society of Botanical Artists members exhibit at theThe Fells is open to any NESBA member in good standing (dues paid).


Location—The Fells, Newbury, NH, May 20 –July 17 , 2011 Exhibit will coincide with the International North American Rock Garden Society conference, June 17–20, 2011

Subject matter— "A rock garden plant is any plant you can grow with rocks", according to Jeff Good, Landscape Director at The Fells. Fine artwork by the New England Society of Botanical Artists will feature and interpret rock garden and alpine plants found throughout New England. Subject matter should be any plant found in rock gardens, including shade, sun, wet, dry, and alpine areas etc.
Matted Giclee prints of hanging artwork may be sold in the gift shop. Artwork preferred to be for sale but not required to be. The Fells shall sell artwork at the price listed and set by the artist and the Fells shall retain a 25% commission and NESBA shall retain a commission of 10% on all artwork sold in the exhibit.

Framing—Please follow NESBA framing standard for this exhibit: white or off-white mats and a simple gold or light wood frame. No sawtooth hangers, or mats. Frames that do not meet exhibit quality standards will not be accepted. Artwork not required to be for sale. All artwork must be bubble wrapped and properly labeled and include a $10 hanging fee per piece. If shipping, please enclose shipping instructions plus return prepaid shipping with hanging fee.

Artists Statement—Each artist is required to submit an artist statement/bio to be included in the exhibit’s promotional material. Please include a one-page artist statement or resume. Email to Nancy Horrall before delivery due date. (Or printed on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of white paper and include with your piece) Guidelines for your statement are posted on the NESBA website.
